DC BIOCHIP FOR RAS AND WWTP
The DC BIOCHIP is a state-of-the-art biofilm carrier engineered to enhance biological processes in water and wastewater treatment. It is primarily utilized within Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) and Integrated Fixed-Film Activated Sludge (IFAS) systems, which are recognized for their efficiency in various biological treatment applications. The fundamental principle behind the BioChip's operation involves providing an expansive and protected surface area where specialized microorganisms can establish and proliferate, forming a biologically active layer known as biofilm. This biofilm then naturally degrades pollutants present in the wastewater.
A distinguishing characteristic of the BioChip's design is its "protected active surface area. " This is not merely a measure of total surface area but specifically refers to the internal pore system where microbial colonization is secured. This design ensures enhanced microbial stability and resilience against mechanical impacts and shear forces, which are inherent in agitated MBBR systems. The robust protection of the biomass within the carrier's pores minimizes biofilm detachment, leading to more consistent and reliable biological treatment performance. This contrasts with conventional carriers, where biofilm can be more susceptible to being flushed off, potentially leading to process instability. The inherent stability conferred by this protected environment translates directly into reduced operational risks and lower maintenance requirements, contributing to overall system efficiency and dependability.

Request A QuoteKey Features of DC BIOCHIP MBBR Media
1. Ultra-High Specific Surface Area
With a specific surface area as high as 5,500 m²/m³, it provides more attachment space for microorganisms, thereby increasing the system’s effective biomass.
2. Stable Biofilm Formation
The flake-like structure promotes biofilm formation and retention, contributing to long-term, stable system operation.
3. High Mass Transfer Efficiency
Studies and biofilm mass transfer principles indicate that a biofilm thickness of around 0.5 mm is often considered an optimal range for effective oxygen and substrate transfer. At this thickness, oxygen and pollutants can penetrate into the biofilm more efficiently, helping microorganisms maintain high biological activity.
DC BIOCHIP provides excellent attachment surfaces on both sides of the carrier, allowing biofilm to grow within a more controlled and efficient thickness range. This helps oxygen and nutrients reach different biofilm layers, ensuring that microorganisms inside the biofilm remain active.
4. Excellent Fluidization Effect
The density of DC BIOCHIP before biofilm formation is 0.95±0.02 g/cm³, which is close to the density of water. Under aeration or water flow, the media remains well suspended and fluidized in the reaction tank and does not settle easily. Adequate fluidization enhances contact between the media, wastewater, dissolved oxygen, and microorganisms, thereby improving biological treatment efficiency and ensuring stable system operation.
5. New PE Material
Made from White Virgin PE, it is corrosion- and aging-resistant, making it suitable for long-term use in wastewater treatment and recirculating aquaculture systems.
6. Long Service Life
With a service life of up to 15 years or more, it reduces replacement frequency and long-term maintenance costs.
7. Flexible Filling Rate
The filling rate ranges from 15% to 65% and can be flexibly designed according to different water qualities, treatment capacities, and project requirements.
8. Suitable for Nitrification and Ammonia-Nitrogen Removal
It provides an optimal attachment environment for nitrifying bacteria, making it suitable for ammonia-nitrogen control in municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater, and RAS aquaculture water.
9. Saves Tank Space
It increases microbial concentration within a limited tank volume, making it suitable for compact wastewater treatment systems and capacity expansion projects at existing wastewater treatment plants.
